A storm system on the Great Plains will drift northeastward, reaching the upper Great Lakes region by mid-week. A trailing storm will follow a similar path, crossing the Great Lakes States late Thursday and early Friday. Two-storm rainfall totals could reach 1 to 2 inches or more from the central Plains into the Midwest. Locally higher totals of 3 to 6 inches may occur in the central Gulf Coast States along the storms’ trailing cold fronts, where heavy showers and severe thunderstorms could strike from March Wednesday through Friday.
