Western Indiana farmer Rick Clark has found success in “farming green,” or planting corn and soybeans directly into cover crops in the spring.

“We are spending $25-40 an acre on these cover crops and the last thing I want to do is go out and burn it all to the ground with chemicals on the first warm day of spring,” he says. 

He says farming green maximizes what cover crops are intended to do.
