Iowa native Karissa Schweizer became the first Iowa woman to qualify for two individual events at the same Olympics. The former Dowling Catholic and Missouri standout finished second in the ten thousand meters run on Saturday at the U-S Olympic Trials. She had already qualified for the five thousand meter run and becomes only the seventh American woman to qualify in both.
Schweizer battled the heat and humidity to finish in a time of 31:16.52. The Tokyo Olympics begin July 23rd.
