Maurine Hamler Ridout passed away peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2021. She was living at the Iowa Veteran’s Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2021 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Graveside services will be 11:15 a.m, Friday, July 2, 2021 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 23, 2021 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Iowa River Hospice, Marshalltown, IA. Maurine was born October 29, 1926, to Harry C. and M. Clemma Winslow Hamler at the Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown. On April 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to Carlton (Cart) W. Ridout at the Congregational Church in Van Cleve, Iowa. They lived their married life farming on the Marshall/Jasper County line until Carlton’s death in 1991.Maurine graduated from the Van Cleve Consolidated School in 1944. She was an active member of the Van Cleve church and First United Church of Christ in Marshalltown. Some of her joys were de-tasseling corn and having her own crews for DeKalb and driving the school bus for Van Cleve and Marshalltown school districts for over 40 years. She also loved to play bridge and 500 and took up golf after her retirement. She and her husband enjoyed going to dances at the Forest Park Ballroom. Maurine also supported her family by attending as many of their school and summer activities as she could.
Maurine and Carlton were the proud parents of three children: Charlotte (Richard) Mayer of Bluffton, SC; Ronald Ridout of Marshalltown; and James (Tereca) Ridout of Wake Forest, NC. They had ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.She is survived by sister Joyce Bollhoefer; sister & brother-in-law Laura Janice (Ivan) Pfantz; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband (his five brothers & three sisters); a brother and sister-in-law Howard & LaVonne Hamler; sister and brother-in-law Marilyn & Fred Feldschneider; sister Veryl Hamler; daughter-in-law Nikki Ridout; and brother-in-law Robert Bollhoefer.
