The South Dakota harvest is ahead of normal, and for some, it’s better than expected. Todd Hanten’s soybean harvest was better than he dared to hope. After a growing season that included everything from drought to deluge, the northeastern South Dakota farmer puts this crop in the top three he’s had, “possibly the top,” Hanten told Brownfield Ag News.

The USDA’s Ag Statistics Service says South Dakota soybeans are 93 percent harvested, about the same as last year and ahead of 76 percent, which is normal.
