It’s been a typically quiet start to cash cattle trade for the week. Buyers and sellers seem to be busy taking inventory ahead of USDA’s cattle inventory report out later this afternoon. Last week, the bulk of the week’s business happened on Tuesday and Wednesday with Southern live deals coming in mostly from $136 to $137, about $1 lower than the prior week’s weighted averages. Northern dressed business came in mostly at $218, steady with the prior week’s weighted average basis in Nebraska.
