A downtown business owner and local developer is running for a seat on the Jasper County Board of Supervisors.

On Saturday, Julie Prendergast formally announced her intentions to serve on the county board.

The Jasper County board is currently comprised of republicans Denny Carpenter, Doug Cupples, and Brandon Talsma.

The terms of Talsma and Carpenter are both up for re-election, but both intend to run again.

Prendergast was born and raised in Jasper County and currently resides in the unincorporated area of the county.
