A low-pressure system crossing the mid-South will drift eastward, reaching the middle Atlantic Coast during the weekend. Warm, humid conditions will precede the system, while cool, showery weather will prevail along and north of the storm’s track. Additional rainfall could total 2 to 5 inches in the South, with the highest totals expected along and near the central Gulf Coast. Totals exceeding an inch will be common across the Midwest.
