Rose (Christian) Hanzelka, 85, of Conrad, IA passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad surrounded by her family. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Conrad Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown, IA. The family invites you to join them for lunch after the service at the American Legion in Conrad. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Beaman Conrad Emergency Response Team, Compassus Hospice in Cedar Falls, IA, or the Oakview Nursing Home Activities Fund. Rose was born on October 19, 1937 to Peter and Margaret (Verdeck) Christian, and raised on a farm in Victor, IA. She married John H. Hanzelka in 1956 and they moved to Conrad in 1958 where they raised their family and spent their lives. Rose’s love of cooking for her family and friends extended to her career cooking for BCL Schools and That Place restaurant until she retired. She loved gardening, collecting egg cups, and following granddaughter Haley’s numerous activities.

Her memory will be cherished by her son, John (Barbara) and daughter, Julie (Hanzelka) Stahl; sisters Dolores White and Lyn Davis; brother Robert (Denise) Christian; granddaughters Haley Stahl and Amber Hanzelka; two great granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Elsie Hasley.
