A brief period of mostly tranquil weather will cover much of the country through mid-week. By Thursday, however, a pair of fast-moving disturbances crossing the northern U.S. will generate some snow, primarily in the Midwest and Northwest. The trailing system will deliver some additional Midwestern snow on Friday, as well as some rain across the South, followed by a weekend outbreak of colder weather across most areas east of the Rockies.
