Sunday 7th December 2025

The evening of Saturday, November 1st was a busy one for the Marshalltown Fire Department as they responded to 4 incidents on the northside of town.  According to a press release from Fire Chief Christopher Cross, Saturday, the Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at the Salvation Army building at 9:56pm and suppressed that fire without incident.

At 10:05, the department responded to a person being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of 3rd Ave. and E Main Street. That person was pronounced deceased at the hospital later in the evening.

10:10pm, there was a call for a residential structure fire at 118 N 2nd St. which is a two story building.  The fire had spread to the 2nd floor and attic area, but was brought under control.  No one was hurt or found when searching the building after the fire was suppressed.

Saturday at 11:04, the Fire Department was dispatched to 107 N. 4th St for a dumpster fire in the alley.  The fire was contained to the dumpster and quickly extinguished.

Finally, at 11:34pm, the fire department was made aware of another fire at 116 N. 1st St.  A large fire was found in the rear of the structure and had extended into the house once the department arrived.  The residence had two apartments and all people had gotten out safely. An engine from the State Center Fire Department was requested for mutual aid as well as a Medic Unit from Unity Point Marshalltown EMS. Fire personnel were at the scene of this fire until approximately 2:00 AM, Sunday.
