On May 14th, the Marshalltown Police Department in coordination with the Central Iowa Traffic Safety Task Force conducted a move-over traffic project on US Highway 30. The project was aimed at making contacts with vehicles who did not move over or slow down when approaching certain stationary vehicles in violation of the move-over law.
23 total contacts were made for move-over violations in the four hours of the project. The Marshalltown Police Department wants to remind drivers to move over or slow down upon approaching vehicles on the side of the road. Throughout the project, other violations occurred and contacts were made for speed, dark windows/windshields, failure to carry registration, and operating non-registered vehicle.
