One of the downtown structures that will take a while to repair/rebuild is the Orpheum Theater Center. As a matter of fact, Orpheum Director Bob Untiedt says they still do not know how extensive the damage was to that historical movie house.
Live After 5 will take place in the 13th Street District, while the August 24th event will be held at RS Stover. All other scheduled music shows through the end of the year will take place in DeJardain Hall at Iowa Valley/MCC.
On the west side of the downtown, it’s a little bit of a different struggle. Some businesses that were damaged, but didn’t take a direct hit, were up and running after 24 hours of the tornado passing by. Jody Anderson, who owns Anderson Funeral Home says while he was back in business quickly, it’s been hard to get the word that businesses are operating while repair work is continuing.
Anderson compliments the Marshalltown Area Chamber of Commerce on all of its efforts. HE adds that if folks want to visit the west side of the downtown business district, they are welcome to park in the funeral home’s parking lot.
